Physical Fitness The Army ROTC Department at Virginia Tech provides a first class physical fitness program. Physical fitness is an essential component of military duty and leadership. Fitness includes many factors, such as strength, endurance, diet, and lifestyle. Army ROTC Cadets are encouraged to develop fitness habits that will last a lifetime. All Cadets are required to take the Army Physical Fitness Test. The test includes:
Up to 100 points are awarded for performance of each event. The minimum passing score is 60 points per event. Cadets are encouraged to aim for the maximum score. Constant improvement, from any level, is the goal. Scores are calculated according to Army standards and vary with performance, age, and gender. - The two time Brigade Ranger Challenge Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) Team Champion (2004 & 2005) [28 teams] - Two Regimental APFT high scores at the Leader Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) in 2006 [4000 compete only 24 Cadets nationwide earn this award] - The overall top male APFT high score at the 2006 Leader's Training Course [nearly 2000 Cadets competed for this award] - The 2005 BDE Ranger Challenge Individual High APFT Score - A Regimental APFT high score at LDAC in 2004 This is our Cadet's program. If a Cadet is weak at PT, we will work with them. Those that put forth the effort will improve!!!! |
